'The Garfield Movie' Review- A Fun Food-filled espionage comedy

The Garfield Movie is an epic espionage comedy full of thrills, laughter and heartfelt moments. The last time we saw this furry friend on the big screen was as puppet and at times it did deliver laughs, but it wasn't a satisfactory portrayal of the beloved character. However, this entry into the Garfield universe is a fun kids film that has a great amount of emotion.

It is tastefully animated and complimented by an energetic soundtrack, delivering one of the best family movies of the last few years. It does have a lot of common tropes and cliche moments, but is an all round awesome time at the cinema for famillies.

The film deals with abandonment and reconnecting with family which are really important themes and at times it does seem unrealistic it brings out emotional plot beats that children can learn from in a more lighthearted way.

Both Chris Pratt (who voices Garfield) and Hannah Waddingham (who voices  the antagonist Jinx) put on a show! They deliver great performances especially Waddingham, who is wicked and hilarious. Christ Pratt makes Garfield relatable and allows us to see his sensitive side too.

Overall, Garfield is a enjoyable viewing and audiences can take a lot away from the film despite it having a lot of common themes we have seen in previous films.

Overall Rating: 7/10 - Recommend!
