Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes - A Triumphant return for a New Generation

After a masterful trilogy with Caesar I didn't think that there was a need for more Planet Of The Apes movies, but I was so wrong! Director Wes Ball came with heavy artillery with this new installment for the franchise. It is bold, beautiful and tantalising. The story follows many years after the reign of Caesar, a young ape (Noah) goes on a journey that will lead him to question everything he's been taught about the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

The film is a visual spectacle. Experiencing this in IMAX truly makes you appreciate the hard work that goes into motion capture and they nail every moment to perfection. The sharp, crispy details are so evident and it was a film made for the big screen.

It is filled with incredible performances from Freya Allan and Owen Teague who team up and build a great relationship in the movie. We have seen the dynamic between humans and apes in the previous films, but in this world ravaged by apes it was interesting to see how a human was the minority. We were also presented with one of the greatest villains in all of the franchise, 'Proximus Caesar', played by Kevin Durand. He is a powerful antagonist that shows his presence. Proximus is violent and brutal and audiences almost feel like he's an anti hero we should be rooting for.

KOTPA is a gargantuan triumph in filmmaking with excellent world building and lives up to its predecessors. Coupled with a powerful score and stunning visuals, it gives long time fans and new fans a great experience in the cinema.

Overall Rating: 8/10 - A Must Watch!
